Rob Carmichael

When Rob Carmichael founded Cadeo in 2013, he wanted to build a nimble organization with the technical, analytical, and creative capacity to truly help clients get better. As principal, Rob ensures Cadeo projects help clients think strategically and creatively about their opportunities to advance clean energy in the marketplace. He relies on his extensive experience in market and technology characterization, policy and financial impact analysis, and stakeholder coordination to help clients design and/or improve forward-thinking energy programs that deliver results.

Prior to launching Cadeo, Rob was an Associate Director at Navigant Consulting. There, he provided analytical and programmatic support to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Appliance Standards Program. He also led the financial and competitive impact analyses supporting DOE’s assessment of mandatory appliance and equipment efficiency standards. He has also led large complex engagements for the Bonneville Power Administration. These include a commercial lighting market characterization study and an intensive modeling assessment of regional energy savings from efficiency standards.

Rob holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A from the University of Maryland. His previous work as a journalist covering energy issues for USA Today convinced him of the value of clear and accessible information. This continues to guide Cadeo’s work products. Rob is also convinced that Tom Brady’s (GOAT) departure from his beloved Patriots reveals a glitch in the fabric of reality.
